Since 1979, the name ADVAN has been synonymous with highly tuned vehicles in Japan. 30 years later, Yokohama Australia has introduced the high performance range down under. 

ADVAN was launched by Yokohama as a global brand in 2005 and the name has since been given to Yokohama’s best high performance road tyres, race tyres and light weight wheel range.

The wheel range is continuously tested on the world stage with Yokohama providing race teams with ADVAN Racing wheels that feature the same design and finish as the street wheels available for retail sale. The challenge of motorsport contributes directly to the quality and high performance of the range.

Christian Hansen, Marketing Manager at Yokohama Tyre Australia believes that “there’s a need for a high quality, high performance range of wheels in the Australian tuning scene. Magazines are littered with pages of cheap, heavy and poorly made wheels which are more likely to reduce a car’s performance due to rotational inertia, amongst other things. Each extra kilo of wheel weight is equivalent to about 4 kilos in the cabin. For a set of wheels that’s 16 kilos. Some large ‘bling wheels’ can be 3 or 4 kilos heavier than the standard wheel making your car feel like you have an extra passenger!”

Recently, Yokohama Tyre Australia has embraced the JDM (Japanese Domestic Market) car tuning scene by sponsoring Superlap Time Attack events and using racing cars to showcase their new products. A wide range of light-weight ADVAN racing wheels are now available in Australia including, ADVAN R-spec race tyres and ADVAN Neova street/race tyres specifically catering for the JDM market.

Christian says that “it will be refreshing to offer JDM enthusiasts a bolt-on modification where they can feel a dramatic improvement in performance akin to extra turbo boost”

When ADVAN Racing wheels are fitted to a car, drivers can be certain that they’re fitting a strong, lightweight, world-class performance part.
